Everybody’s Entitled To My Opinion

In Burnout Mode - Please Stand By

May 15th, 2008 by MacBros - 28 Peepers read this post.

Holy heck! I’ve been feeling really pooped to say the least.

I’ve got things to do, but just can’t seem to muster the energy or drive to do anything.

Cooking dinner was even an exhausting task.

My sleep has been really bad lately over the past week. Which is probably the main reason why I feel so crappy right now.

I’m excited about starting this new job causing me to keep my mind racing when thinking about having to go to the other hell hole still.

I’ve had to be getting up early - well a lot earlier than I normally do because the places I needed to be aren’t open by the time I wake up in the day. I still need to take care of a few things, but now the energy levels are depleted and I feel like if the world exploded, I really wouldn’t care right now.

It sure will be nice to be back on a natural sleeping schedule.

The Job Is Mine! Officially.

May 14th, 2008 by MacBros - 78 Peepers read this post.

Today was the day that made my new job official. I signed a couple of contracts. Things like Confidentiality forms, and other things giving them permission to do a background check through Social Services. I am going to the Cop Shop tomorrow to fill out a form to get a Criminal record check done for them. Just hope nobody found the bodies, if so, then those murders shouldn’t show up on the background check.

I got my Union book to read over and some forms I took home for Tax information and my Blue Cross benefits. I’ll take those in when I start.

I am really looking forward to this job!

Regular hours, weekends and holidays off. Paid Holidays, vacations and sick days. And best of all…A LIFE!

Job classification is called a Co-Worker. I’ll be working in a kitchen plus helping others with special needs from 6:30am until 2pm. Which is great! Helping people and getting the rest of the day to myself is awesome!

I’m going to have so much free time and money to spend again.

I just hope I don’t wake up if this is all a dream.

Lincoln Kids May Loose One More

May 13th, 2008 by MacBros - 192 Peepers read this post.

I am not proud to say that I have experimented with a few bad substances in my younger years, but I’m really proud to say that I have gotten past that stage in my life and that I no longer feel the need to take narcotics to feel good.

Unfortunately, an old friend of mine fell back into one of our old past times that we used to indulge in on the weekends when we were room mates back when the air was clean and a beer was 10 cents a draft at the bar.

You see, back then, we both were into snorting up the good ol’ cocaine. Yes, I did that foolish thing. We would get a few grams of the shit and spend a few nights awake doing the damn stuff. Never sleeping, or doing anything productive…just got high and went with the ride that shit gave us. “Yes it felt great, but it takes away a lot too.”

We both were staying in a house that we shared, and we both hit a pivotal moment when we both realized how bad things were getting when we started to talk about selling things to make money for our next fix. It was then that we both actually hung up the habit. Thankfully, we did that then, before we were completely addicted.

Years have gone by, we both went our separate ways. We both went on to become grown ups and responsible people. He, had gotten married, and then divorced, he also had some kids… Me on the other hand remained single and childless…. not to my own will mind you. Just waiting for that special one I think?

Well anyway, as we stopped the contact over the past few years, I really haven’t talked to my old buddy (I’ll Call Him D.B. and only friends know who that is), he has had a string of bad luck. A marriage that went bad, and an accident that cost him an eye are just a couple of things that I learned through some good friends of mine that still keep friendships going between them. I’m not saying I am NOT friends with them, but the communication has been somewhat non existent over the past few years. I guess we’ve just grown apart, but I still say they are my friends even though we don’t cross paths.

I have always thought that D.B. was on the straight and narrow, living the good life despite the unfortunate events that happened to him in the past. But, I received a phone call from a friend of mine that has been keeping the friendship going between both him and D.B. and actually keeping me up to date with the latest gossip, to tell me that D.B. has Over Dosed on cocaine.

A good friend of mine, who I thought we both kicked a nasty habit with, has fallen into a medical induced coma due to taking over 7 grams of dust! WTF!!!???

Memories of growing up in Lincoln with him flooded my mind. I tried to keep the feeling to myself as my friend was talking to me about the news.

The only thing that I keep saying in my head is, “WHY? Why did he go back to that shit?” I though he was so clean and had his life in cue.

He’s on day 5 now apparently, and from the news I got, things are not looking good.

I’m hoping he pulls though, I really do. Even though we haven’t been in contact for several years, he is still one of my best friends.

I just want him to pull though so I can personally go up to him and SLAP him in the back of the head and say, “WTF were you thinking!!!??”

Finally! A Sponsor That DOESN’T Use PR!

May 13th, 2008 by MacBros - 77 Peepers read this post.

Awhile back, maybe five or six months ago, I was riding the sweet gravy train of sponsored posting and making some pretty sweet pocket change. Pocket change that came in very handy to help pay bills, buy beer, and buy neat toys like a Playstation 3.

Then there was a point in time when Google decided that blogs that were making money from advertisers and not through them, that they would punish the fine folks that were using this awesome way to earn some extra cash to help make life easier by stripping their page ranks away. A bit harsh and unfair in my opinion, but the deed was done, and thousands were effected by the Internet bully.

After the Page Rank Spank, bloggers like myself, didn’t have anybody coming to them for Ads anymore. Their PR really seems to matter to the advertisers. Even though the whole PR thing can be manipulated by Google resulting in misdirected understandings as far as web site popularity goes, advertisers still believe that PR is the only thing that makes a web site popular. SO VERY WRONG!

Page rank, as we have seen, can be manipulated by Google. Who’s to say that Google doesn’t get pay offs to rank sites that pay them? We will never know, and that’s one reason not to rely on PR alone.

So what does one do to gage their site popularity and show off just how popular their site really is by not using Page Rank? The answer to that is REAL RANK!. (AKA RR)

Izea has created a service called SocialSpark and it brings both Bloggers and Advertisers together through the art of communication.

Advertisers can interact with bloggers and vice versa, bloggers can post about other bloggers and link swap, bloggers can vote on top opportunities, and the list goes on and on.

I am actually a member, and have been since they invited me into their BETA group, and I have been enjoying the service since day one.

Although it is a service that is geared to allow advertisers to purchase advertising on users blogs, it is also a community. Everybody, advertisers and bloggers alike can become friends and share interests amongst their groups.

By the way, if you eventually sign up on SocialSpark please add me to your friends list, the more the merrier! You can see my profile and add yourself to it.

The really neat thing besides being able to make some extra cash from the site is that the stats you get from their tracking service is really kewel too!

The account information that you get from their own analytics is so awesomely useful, it’s worth having a membership alone! Not only can you see where your visitors are coming from, but you can see where they came from and where they went!

According to the results, my site is solely American.. LOL :-” Thanks to that Great Canadian law that lets us have our privacy, the dots don’t really show up a whole lot, but we still register! :D

The one thing I really like about their tracking service is the fact that I can see what my viewers click on my site. It allows me to see what links are the most popular. That lets me know, what my viewers are most interested in.

When you get an account you will also see the gender of other SocialSpark members letting you know who is more interested in your stuff. You’ll see what they are more interested in.

There are so many features to this service that a post alone cannot describe just how awesome it is. You really need to set up an account to see the results for yourself. If you don’t want to do paid postings you can still blog about other bloggers, and gain a community of friends. The options are there for you, and you have the option to do what you want.

A social network that is headed in the right direction, we need to show the PR Giants that PR is just a manipulated number, and Real Rank is a Real number!

Job Interview Was A Hit!

May 9th, 2008 by MacBros - 157 Peepers read this post.

I didn’t want to jinx this or anything so I kept it all hush-hush up until now.

Yesterday I had a job interview and it went perfect in my opinion. Perfect because they called me this morning to tell me that I got the job!

The job will be working in a kitchen still, but it will be a lot more laid back than my current one. It will have regular hours, it will be five days a week with weekends and holidays off. It pays more! It will allow me to have a life. It is Unionized and has good benefits but no dental unfortunately.

It is a job that will require me to work with clients with special needs, which sounds like a rewarding job on its own.

SCAMP tells me that there are a lot of extras that come with it also that show you just how much your appreciated by the employer. Especially around x-mas time.

So, I’ll be going in to the hell hole shortly so I can get there early to drop the bomb that they really don’t want to hear. I’ll be giving them my two weeks notice.

So this was something I was keeping to myself over the past couple of weeks because I didn’t want to jinx it at all. It is a job that I really think will be my niche for a long time.

Thanks have to go to SCAMP for working her magic in getting me the job by recommending me to them!

I need to get away!

May 9th, 2008 by MacBros - 82 Peepers read this post.

You know the past few months for me have been mentally stressful and exhausting. It is like as soon as I take one step forward I get knocked back two.

Problems seen to rear their ugly faces at every corner I turn and it is getting very frustrating. So frustrating that it would just be nice to just go away for awhile.

Wouldn’t it be great if everybody could just go and take a time out? Even if it meant that everyone could take simple Weekend Breaks whenever they wanted. Just pick up the phone or go to Dial a flight.com and book a short vacation just as easy as 1-2-3.

With work being physically taxing making me drag my butt around all the time due to complete burn out, and the hours being so ridiculous, a nice getaway would be so awesome right now. To be able to pull up a lawn chair on some exotic beach while having a nice cold beer clutched in my hands watching all the beautiful women pass by in their string bikinis would be the best moment in time in my opinion.

Well, hopefully that experience wont be all that far away in the near future as new things happen in my life. Some good news is coming my way.
